Kaden to me with 2 yellow crayons: "This yellow crayon is the other one's wife."
Kaden to me, as I was nursing Marin: "Mom, I wish I was a girl."
Me: "Why?"
Kaden: "Cause then I could pump milk for Marin."

Kid Corral
I found a wonderful new way to corral my kids, and it wasn't even on purpose! I needed a safe place to put Marin while cleaning up the pool one day, and this was the outcome.
I'll have to remember this location for future reference, as both kids were as thrilled as I was in their new play area.
The well in the back of the van! Brilliant!
Even Kaden wanted to join in the fun

First Days of Summer: Marin Edition
Marin had her first ever pool experience on the first day of summer. She didn't even flinch as I put her in and sat her down (it was almost as warm as bath water). I put her in the Bumbo to sit, as I secured it with my feet. She splashed and played and squealed acting like she'd been swimming a million times before. Eventually I took her out of the Bumbo and just held her with my feet. She is sitting quite well, and only tips over occasionally. After about 45 minutes in the pool, she did a nose dive, and, that was the end of her swimming for the day. She did hang out in the stroller and watch Kaden for another 20 minutes though. I think the girl enjoys being outdoors.
Here she's chewing on an empty Graeter's ice cream container. What can I say, the girl knows her ice cream!
Since you all know how much I "heart" a good deal, this swim suit was a garage sale find...33 cents!
So happy!
Jason wanted to know who splashed her in this picture...my response: "our little Michael Phelps"

First Days of Summer: Kaden Edition
Last Friday we got out the new kiddie pool for the first time. Kaden had a ball and actually played in it longer than I expected, and, he played independently (BONUS!). I watched from the living room, taking pictures through the screen door while caring for the babies. It didn't take long before he was making up games, like kicking the soccer ball out of the pool then trying to throw it back into the pool, and having a grand ol' time.
*These pictures were taken the first two swims of the season, hence the different swim trunks.
LOVES, LOVES, LOVES his goggles. That Easter Bunny is one smart cookie!

Steal of the Week
A couple of weeks ago I snagged a GREAT deal. I even took a picture it was so good! I happened upon some milk at Kroger for....(hold onto your flip flops).....25 cents a half gallon! UNBELIEVABLE! I was almost giddy as I stood there trying to decide how many to buy. I think I bought 6, but boy it was hard to restrain myself. I froze a few, and then used them when I made homemade waffles. Oh, how I love getting good deals, especially on something I have to buy every week anyway!

Hiatus Excuses
Sorry about the unintentional hiatus. Seems like we've been on the go for the past 10 days. First it was my first ever garage sale. (Thanks mom and Amber for making it successful and FUN!)
Then it was a short, but eventful trip to Columbus to see a few of our dear friends.
Next came the diagnosis of li'l miss's first ear infection (which, by the way did NOT help the improving sleep patterns). Then I was baby sitting (how DO people with more than two children get ANYTHING done???). By the way, have to mention that these babies are less than a month apart in age. Kaden loves to lay between them and talk to them. What does he say? Many things, mostly endearing. The most notable however is the time he said: "These two are driving me nuts!" when they were both touching him.
Finally it was Father's Day (which came with it's own set of card and gift making craziness. Guess who got their own version of a Name Frame? Maybe I'll post a picture someday, if you ask very nicely). We had a fun weekend getting a few little things done around the house, visiting the children's museum, and eating out at Jason's favorite pizza place. Needless to say, blogging hasn't been in the forefront of my mind. So, to make it up to all of you faithful readers (ok, ok, so there are like, 6 of you, but still) I'm writing several fun posts for you to enjoy this week! Thanks for hanging in there!

The Not-so-Name Frame
So, after making Marin's name frame, and Kaden saying he wanted on of his own, I every so gently persuaded him to accept a "florida" frame instead. He and I had many good pictures from one of our trips to the beach that I thought would look great framed together. I set to work and am quite pleased with how it turned out. He is too, and hasn't asked again for his name, although... I may be up for that project here one of these days.

An Unlikely Ballerina
This is what Kaden put on after showering Monday night. It was so funny. He came and asked me, "Do I look hilarious?" I tried to get him to wear a bow in his hair too, but that didn't last long. What a character!

4 Nights and Counting (and praying) (and crossing my fingers)
Just for the record, Marin has slept the past 4 nights without once waking in the night and needing my "assistance" (usually her paci returned to it's rightful place... in her MOUTH!). It has been heavenly to say the very least. Top it off with the fact that Kaden hasn't been waking either and is learning to stay in his room until his radio alarm goes off, and you can see why I'm feeling a bit more human by the minute. I'm not sure what corner she turned or what is different, but I like it. It could be that the girl has 5 teeth (and only one more "on deck") and is finally ready to take a break with those for awhile (hey, a mom can hope, right?). It could be that she's eating 3 solid-food meals a day and snacking on whatever else she can persuade me (with her bulging eyes) to allow her to try (like bread, waffles, puffs, ect...). Who knows, who cares. For the moment at least I'm enjoying peaceful, uninterrupted sleep, what a novel idea!

Marin and Mommy
Had to get a picture with my little girlie before church on Sunday since we were both wearing orange.
Kaden and Daddy had one taken too!
Then Kaden practiced his photography skills once again (we're working on not cutting heads off).

John Deere Kids
Since both were sporting their JD gear this weekend, I had to take advantage of the sibling photo op. In case you can't read Marin's onesie, it says, "Dirt makes me cuter." Not really sure she COULD be cuter, but whatever. Oh, and speaking of cute, I know the last picture is not a great one of me, but...Kaden took it all by himself! So, I had to post it!
Kaden Quotes
My, my it's been awhile. Not because my son lacks funny things to record, but rather because I don't get them all recorded (it's this thing called "life" I'm dealing with).
So, here are two from this past week:
Kaden: "Mom, I wish I was God, but I'm not."
Me: "Why? What would you do?"
Kaden: "I'd put all the stars and the moon in the sky, and everyfing." (no, that's not a typo, that's really how he says "everything")
Then, to Marin when she was not nursing (after telling her she'd "be hungry"), he said "that's not appropriass." Yep, we've been talking about being appropriate this week! Funny how quickly he picks up words!
